Here’s the update, for the first time in 6 months. This has given me a good opportunity to implement a couple characters I have been putting off since almost the first release. I’ve also pulled in a few design ideas from Nergantre’s popular mod, which I’m sure many of you are familiar with. I probably should not wait this long between updates in the future, but it is satisfying to put out this much stuff at once. I think this may be the longest changelog I’ve ever had, and several of the points in the changelog are actually chunks of new content:

  • Lubricants can no longer be used against targets with clothes or already oiled
  • Sensitivity Flasks can no longer be used against targets with clothes or already affected
  • Dissolving Solutions can no longer be used against nude targets
  • Statuses now decay at end of turn instead of beginning, this might not be noticeable
  • Some statuses can now stack, intensifying their effect and extending their duration
  • Buzzed status now stacks and persists after fights
  • Energy Drinks now stack
  • Sedatives now stack
  • Horny status now stacks
  • Shamed status now stacks
  • Added a menu button that displays the map I posted on the blog for ease of navigation
  • Boxers only matches now handle other types of underwear
  • Boxers only matches will not be offered to players who don’t wear underwear, except for the initial encounter
  • Fixed a bug that prevented NPCs from upgrading strapons
  • Changed the save and load dialogs to hopefully make them more user friendly
  • Fixed a null pointer error in EnthrallingTraps
  • Added message to clarify perks selection screen
  • Fixed issue where portraits were attached to images option
  • Fixed issue where portraits sometimes wouldn’t clear
  • Changed how portraits function, so they won’t display during double teams

  • Threesome scenes have been grouped into a generic event system, as part of that, I changed their frequency and removed the once per day limit
  • Made some changes to how postmatch scenes are implemented. They should be easier to add now
  • Spank upgrade from Disciplinarian no longer procs while having sex
  • Characters can reach rank 2 at level 20, this comes with a pay increase
  • Added DNDW’s new NPC, Samantha with the Professional skill tree
  • Added submissive training scene, with a few different variations
  • Added a couple shortcuts to the map that can be used by character with high Cunning
  • After visiting an NPC at least once, their attraction will start to be converted to affection, making it no longer useless
  • Armbar now causes a Power debuff

  • Added new Status Sore that affects pain damage to different body parts
  • Added new Status Sensitive that affects pleasure damage to different body parts
  • Added a proficiency stat that allows modifiers for different body parts used
  • Changed how strip checks are calculated, they should be easier now and have a bonus from being in dominant position
  • New starting trait: Brass Balls reduces damage from low blows
  • New starting trait: Bra Master gives bonus to stripping tops
  • New starting trait: Panty Peeler gives bonus to stripping bottoms
  • At 30 Cunning, characters can now strip 2 pieces of clothing at once
  • Fixed an issue where victories due to bathing ambushes and Spiderweb traps scored double
  • New starting weakness: Hair Trigger for people who are finding the game too easy
  • Characters can reach rank 3 at level 30, this comes with a pay increase
  • Added a new, very powerful, probably familiar NPC who appears as a special event enemy
  • This NPC has access to the Hypnosis skillset.
  • There’s currently no way for the player to learn Hypnosis
  • Added Angel double-team scene for NPCs with a dick (slight cheat, it’s almost identical to her normal one)
  • Added Player double-team scene for NPCs with a dick
  • Added Cassie double-team scene for NPCs with a dick
  • Replaced the Desperate protraits in Nergantre’s portraitset with the Horny ones, hopefully this will not cause confusion
  • Added Jewel double-team scene for NPCs with a dick
  • added Mara double-team scene for NPCs with a dick (another copy of normal scene)

Holy crap, this week was insane. I didn’t have as much time to test as I was hoping, but I believe this release is fairly stable. Let me know if you run into issues.

In addition to handling any bugfixes associated with this update, I’ll be working on the Twine microgame I’ve mentioned several times. Given the nature of Twine, I assume I can host it directly on the site without requiring a download. We’ll see if wordpress plays nice. As far as future Night Games work goes, I have one more NPC in development, who will probably be my next priority. I have some additional candidates after that, but I haven’t started on them yet. I also have a long term addition planned, but it will be dependent on finding outside help, so I’m not going reveal anything yet.

Night Games update 12/13

Ok, so the order has changed again. I hit a block on the Twine game and went back to working on the Night Games update. I’ve completed everything that I feel like I need to have for the update. There are 3 new Opponents, a bunch of new skills, a bunch of new scenes, some new traits, a few new mechanics, and of course, bugfixes. I’m giving myself a week to test and try to squeeze in some last minute content, but I am committing to releasing the update a week from today. That’s the day before my first Final. Maybe I should have timed this better, but it’s probably best that I get it released before Finals week.

I should be releasing the Twine game shortly afterward, though it’s possible the 2nd girl may not make it into the initial release. The first girl is nearly complete, but the 2nd one is only about 60% written.

Finally Back Up and Running

So after about three weeks with zero productivity, I finally have a new hard drive in my laptop and am able to develop again. I backed up all my work on Night Games and the Twine games, so I haven’t lost anything except time. Well, technically I forgot to back up some of my small games prototypes, but I wasn’t actively developing them anyway, so I’m probably better off with them gone. This way they aren’t consuming cycles in the back of my mind.

Now as much as I’d love to hit the ground running and get these releases done ASAP, but I am also rapidly approaching the last weeks of the semester. Now this is good timing for me personally, since I need my laptop now more than ever, but it also means I’ll need to devote more time to schoolwork for a bit. Hopefully I can at least make good use of the Thanksgiving weekend to finish up the Twine game.

I was considering dropping the Twine game temporarily to try to push out the Night Games update as fast as possible, but I think that’ll actually be counterproductive. I started the Twine game to clear up my Night Games  writers block and I’m not sure It’ll be effective until I either release the game or hit writers block on that. Probably being unable to switch my writing focus at will is a sign that I’m not a good writer, but that’s never been my forte anyway.

Once I release the Twine game, I’ll finish up the remaining scenes I need for the Night Games update. Hopefully it won’t take me too long. This update has been a long time coming. Looking at the changelog, there’s stuff here I did almost 6 months ago. I keep forget it’s not in the released game yet. The Enthralling Trap null pointer exception, for example. I wrote that fix ages ago, but it’s still probably crashing for people with the current version. Fuck me, I need to finish this release.

Looming Disaster

After needing a 14 hour disk repair to boot up, I’m now getting warnings about an imminent hard drive failure. Obviously, I’m backup up my work frequently, so I shouldn’t lose much, if any, progress. However, if the hard drive goes, I may be out of commission for awhile.

The side game I’m working on is about 70% complete and I’ve reached a point where I can playtest it. I’m unfortunately finding it less satisfying to play than I had hoped. Maybe I’ll spend some more time tweaking it before I make it available.

Another Brief Diversion

I haven’t posted on here in  a while, because I generally only post when I’m releasing a new update for Night Games. As you can see, there’s still no update. Instead of having extra time in the summer months, I ended up working full time through the summer and had less time for game development. This doesn’t mean I’ve been idle however. As I mentioned in the comments, I was experimenting with some other game ideas. The ones I mentioned are all currently shelved and I’ve been working on Night Games for the past few months.

I decided to take this long break to finish writing the scenes I had been putting off for several updates. My writing is a lot slower than my coding, so it’s taken a while, but I’m pretty close to a major update. Approximately 3 more scenes to hit the minimum target for the update, at which point I’ll announce a date for the update, then another week to test and try to squeeze in some extra content.

However, I am slightly sidetracked again. A couple days ago I was struck by an idea for a small new game. I’m writing it in twine and should be able to publish it directly to the blog. As you may be able to guess from the engine, it’s mechanically light and writing heavy. Since I’m much better at mechanics than writing, I’m not sure why I thought this would be a good idea. Fortunately, it’s small enough in scope that I should be able to have a playable version written within a week or so. If it takes too long, I promise I’ll jump back to Night Games. Right now, I won’t be able to concentrate on it. Either way, I’ll be back to finishing up the update pretty soon. If nothing else, It’ll at least be good writing practice.

It’ll try to have more news in a week or so, either that I’m pulling the trigger on the Night Games update or that the new game is ready for initial release.

Night Games – Done With Finals

Here’s a quick update to celebrate the fact that I actually have some time to work on Night Games. This isn’t a big update overall, but I wanted to get the art commissions into the game sooner rather than later. I have a bunch of small writing tasks coming up, which I haven’t done in awhile, so we’ll see how long it takes me to get up to speed.

People have been asking me for the ability to put yourself into a submissive position for months now, and I finally decided to make a dedicated skill tree for it. My plan is to make it not completely useless, but still probably underpowered compared to the other skills. You can grab the first level in the XXX Store after level 5. I’ll put an actual NPC there soon.

Night Games – Flasks and Potions

Time for a new update.

I received some new portraits from a member of the community that include the unlockable characters and vary by mood. These were donated, rather than commissioned. I’ve set those to the default portraits, but you can still access the old portraits in the options menu.

No new scenes in this update, but it has some good stuff. There are a lot of balance fixes, major changes in the mood AI, and an overhaul of how items are handled. I’ve made it much easier to add consumables that buff or debuff. I’m looking for ways to improve how other types of items are handled, but that may not be possible.

New Site

Welcome to the new site!

I know it looks a lot like the old site, but now I’m paying for hosting. This means I get a proper domain name and that I can install plugins. Specifically, I installed a Stripe Plugin so I can accept and process donations. I’ve verified it’s working, but if you run into any issues with the donation form, please let me know. I can refund donations using my Stripe account if necessary.

If you’ve played a recent version of Night Games, you’ve seen that I’ve commissioned a couple images for the game. I have two more commissions in progress that I’m paying for out of pocket, but for additional images, I’m counting on donations. Each time I reach enough donations to pay for a commission ($20-$40 depending on the image content), I’ll reach out to an artist to have another image drawn.

The donation form includes a field for what image you’d like to see added next. You can suggest a specific skill, a character, or you can just say you don’t care. I can’t guarantee I’ll be able to accommodate everyone, but I’ll try to take donor requests into account whenever possible. The weight I give requests will be based on the amount donated rather than the number of donations, so 5 donations of $1 won’t get any more weight than a single donation of $5 (It would actually count for less, since Stripe charges a fee for each transaction).

If you’re not interested or able to donate, don’t worry. Night Games will remain free and available to everyone.
